Who We Are
What began as a personal passion has grown into a business dedicated to preserving the legacy of exceptional automobiles. Founded by car people for car people, GT Motor Cars is a supercar dealership first, buying, selling, and owning one of the country’s most exclusive inventories of collector-grade cars.
Our reputation is built on discretion, direct sourcing, and rare in-house offerings. We don’t just find cars, we own them. Our additional services enhance the GT Motor Cars experience, but it all starts with the cars we represent.
Meet Our Founder
Before he could drive, J.R. Amantea was already restoring and judging cars. At seven, he became the youngest NCRS Corvette judge in the country, and by thirteen, a Bloomington Gold judge. Traveling the country with his parents, he earned more than fifty NCRS Top Flight Awards and thirty Bloomington Gold distinctions.
His passion soon extended to the driver’s seat. After attending the Skip Barber Racing School, J.R. competed in endurance events, including the 24 Hours of Daytona and Ferrari’s Competizioni GT series. This background in judging, restoration, and racing gave him a rare perspective on what defines a great car and how to care for it.
After earning a degree in finance and working on Wall Street, J.R. returned to his true passion: rare collector cars. In 2014, he founded GT Motor Cars, bringing together decades of experience across restoration, judging, racing, and finance. That expertise continues to shape the company today.
